Rhode Island, the "Ocean State," is a nickname used to promote tourism. The nickname "Plantation State" is derived from the
states official full name "The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations"
Though it is the smallest of the 50 states, Rhode Island has no shortage of haunted houses.
Terror beneath the waves
Terror Beneath the Waves. Haunted Submarine The Soviet K-Raptor experimental submarine was reported lost in 1977 in the Puerto Rico Trench. 27 years later it has been found and brought to port in Providence, Rhode Island. What caused the demise of the K-Raptor is unknown, however it is speculated that the K-Raptor contained an experimental device/weapon with extraordinary capabilities. To date, the interior of the submarine has not yet been explored. Terrifying sounds still emanate from the inside.
