New York known by its nickname "Empire State" to recognize its vast wealth and variety of resources. New York's official flag was adopted in 1901. The flag has a deep blue background. It pictures Liberty and Justice. Liberty is holding a pole with a liberty cap, and has a discarded crown at her feet. Justice is blindfolded and is holding the scales of justice. A shield between them pictures the sun, hills, and 2 boats sailing on the Hudson River. Over the shield there is a globe and a bald eagle. Under them all is a white, flowing ribbon that reads "EXCELSIOR."
Known for it's largest city New York is also home to many haunted houses.

Brewster NY Yardhaunt
At a neighborhood yard haunt in Brewster Village, NY, ghoulish creatures, aliens and a mysterious fortuneteller will inhabit a scary landscape this October 31st. While the creatures may be frightening, they have a wholesome mission. Trick-or-treaters of all ages are welcome; admission is free – but, please bring cans of food or dried goods in exchange for candy, hot cider for adults, and spooky fun. All food items will be donated to the Putnam Community Action Program food pantry.
