California, known as the The Golden State. The nickname was made the official in 1968. It is particularly appropriate
since California's modern development can be traced back to the discovery of gold in 1848 and fields of golden poppies
can be seen each spring throughout the state. The Golden State Museum is also the name of a new museum slated to open
in late 1998 at the California State Archives in Sacramento. The museum's exhibits will bring to life the momentous
events of California's history through a series of innovative, interpretive exhibits.
The California heat won't keep people from visiting a haunted house or two.

The Haunted Hotel, Frightmare on Market st., and The Haunted Trail
Our walk-through haunted attractions are unlike anything you have ever experienced. We are located in Downtown San Diego and in Balboa Park. We will play on your fears and bring you to your knees in fright. The Haunted Hotel and Frightmare inhabit two building's basements within the Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego's oldest part of Downtown. There you will experience horror like you've never seen with all your favorite scary movies coming to life within The Haunted Hotel. In Frightmare your worst (or best) nightmare's become reality when you step into the underground catacombs of San Diego's dark side. Up at the ever intimidating Balboa Park at night, you will find The Haunted Trail, which is absolutely by no means, a simple walk in the park. We open September 26th to November 1st. Visit our website for details.

Nottingham Nightmare
Since 1988 we been spooking the neighborhood. Now with the kids all older, it has gotten even better to feed this addiction to frighten. This is a local haunt that the neighbors have come to expect and love every year. We have never had a complaint about noise, even when we have 300+ people and a chain saw roaring! We are all very proud of what we do here. The holiday is treated like a neighborhood reunion. Old neighbors who have moved away come back once a year to visit and check out what is new. Neighborhood kids that have grown up come back with their kids to let them experience something from their childhood. And that is big part of why we do it (that and watching the kids pee their pants).
